I have a laptop HP 14s-dq0003ur, it has a slot for M2 and a port for connecting an HDD. What kind of cable do I need to connect it? I spent a long time looking for a cable to connect sata2.5 to my laptop. The port on the laptop is 8-pin. The length should be about 20 cm.photo_2025-07-09_14-11-31.jpgphoto_2025-07-09_14-11-33.jpgphoto_2025-07-09_14-11-33 (2).jpg

That model is not compatible with a 2.5 inch disk. Only M.2 storage. The header you found is for installing a fingerprint reader board which your laptop does not have.

the manufacturer stated that it is possible to install a second hard drive in this model, perhaps this port?photo_2025-07-09_14-23-42.jpg

@Andy282AA

It is not possible to install a 2.5" drive.

I can't find the service manual from HP, but you can download it from the link below:

HP 14-dq0000 | Maintenance and Service Guide

Chapter 1 of the manual does not list any support for 2.5" drives.

Chapter 3 has no 2.5" drive part numbers for drives, cables or mounting hardware.

Perhaps Huffer is right about the connector being for a fingerprint sensor, but it may also be for the 64 GB eMMC flash storage drive that came with some of the lower priced models.

Those would use a ribbon connector.

If you need more storage, you will have to replace the M.2 SSD with one having a greater storage capacity.
