Hi,

I want to know what is the maximum supported RAM for a laptop 17t-by400.

I read at "HP 17 Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide" that for 7th and 8th generation Intel Core processors the maximum is 16GB; but mine is a core 11th generation (Intel i7-1165G7), and I have seen laptops, the same model with up to 32GB RAM.

I want to upgrade the memomy of my computer from 8GB and, if it is possible I´d like to upgrade it to 32GB.

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi:

Yes, most likely your notebook supports 32 GB of memory and HP does not have an updated service manual to show that.

The Crucial memory report for your model series indicates it can support 2 x 32 GB of memory.

Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | hp - compaq | hp 17-by series | HP 17t-by400 CTO | Crucial.com

You can do this to see how much memory your notebook can support...

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator. This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
