I tried to retrofit fingerprint scanner on my G9 840 elitebook. That fingerprint scanner was working on my G8, because I enable it in BIOS. Then I have changed my laptop to g9. There was no option in tje bios where to anable the fingerprint scanner. SO what is the problem. Is it possible to be some bios security option that blocks the fingerprint?

Are you sure you bought the FingerPrint option on your HP EliteBook 840 14 inch G9 machine ? Please check Device Manager . If you wish, you can buy parts 7a, 7b and 7c on page 23 of the following manual and install to your machine

Visually is the same. Later today I will check the model number of my fingerprint to see if there is any difference. Are you sure that there is bios option to enable it? Do you have the G8 product catalog so I can check if it is the same fingerprint reader?
