HP Support Assistant says this computers battery is done. No surprise, it's about 7 years old. Serial number of the computer is: [Personal Information Removed]. Product no. is: 1KS9OUA#ABA. When I search for a battery in the HP parts store I don't find it. There's a batteries plus in town, but their website doesn't have my battery. When I search google for a replacement battery I find a bunch of sellers online, but I don't know which one to use. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Mike

I forgot to include the battery report, here it is:
Warranty Type: 3
Cycle count: 8 / 1000
Manufacturer: 333-54-2C-A
Serial Number: 12869 11/18/2017
Temperature: 23 °C
Current: 0 mA
Failure ID: REOOW
Terminal Voltage: 12190 mV
Design Voltage: 11550 mV
AC Power: Yes
CT Number: 6GFTF31CFA4660
Design Capacity: 56 WHr
Full Charge Capacity: 41 WHr (73%)
Remaining Capacity: 29 WHr
It doesn't mean anything to me, I don't understand that kind of stuff. I do understand the word "failure", but I don't have a clue what "Failure ID: REOOW" means.

Hi, Mike:
Below is the link to the parts list for your notebook:
The battery part number and description is:
916814-855 | Assembly-battery 3C 55Whr 4.8Ah LI LK |
HP does not sell the battery you need, so you can do a search by the HP battery part number and find a compatible aftermarket battery that references that part number.
Your other option would be to contact one of HP's authorized suppliers and see if they have the battery you need.
I don't know what the failure code means either.
Normally the HP failure codes are 24 characters in 4 groups of 6 characters, and you enter the failure code and other required info at the link below to get a report.

Thanks again Paul. You've been a lot of help in my project to bring this old laptop back to life. As for the battery, I've already spent some time using the PartSurfer and shopping the HP authorized suppiers, with no luck. Searching the authorized suppliers was difficult for me to figure out. I think I determined that there's no battery available. When I search online, I find lots of results with prices ranging from $30 to over $100. I decided I want one somewhere in the middle of that range. I've decided on buying one from either Next Day Power or Topbattery.in. The numbers on the batteries from either of those match the numbers on the battery I'm replacing: 11.55V; 55.8Wh; 4835mAh; LK03XL. I'm leaning towards Next Day Power(https://www.nextdaypower.com/hp-envy-x360-15m-bq121dx-3-cell-replacement-battery-moreinfo.html?srslt...) because they claim to be a US owned company, and I was born, raised, and live in the USofA. Topbattery.in offers a battery that looks like the original (https://topbattery.in/product/original-new-laptop-battery-for-hp-916814-855-sl10589-4/), but their website offers no information about the company. My guess it's international, but I can't even tell where they're based. Unless I'm told otherwise I'll buy the battery from NextDay.
Thanks again,
Mike

You're very welcome, Mike:
I don't see any reason why you shouldn't buy the battery from the first link--NextDay.
The vendor seems to have good reviews and offers a 1-year warranty on the battery.
I don't believe you can even buy the battery from the second vendor as they are located in India.

Thanks again, Paul. As soon as I'm done writing this I'm going to the NextDay website to order a battery. Which brings up another question: Is changing a battery a "plug and play" project? I ask because if there's any software changes or anything like that, I'd like to know about it beforehand.
Thanks,
Mike
