Both "C" charging ports are non-responsive and this is clearly a design flaw that is being ignored at HP with case no,.[Personal Information Removed],  An out of warranty claim is so much stuff when it is clear cut a design flaw anchoring it to to the motherboard unsupported.  Anyone aware of a class action law suit?

Hi @darkrock,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand you are unable to use USB-C-type ports. I'd like to help!

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

Please let me know if it is working before.

Have you made any changes to the computer?

Please perform the USB port test and check.

1) Shut down the computer.

2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.

3) Press F2 once.

4) Go to the Component test.

5) From the list, run the USB test.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Yes" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping

Thanks for the effort.  The USB-C ports are Thunderbolts and they were tested under the "components, systems, etc" when the first port failure occurred about 7 months ago and that would have been the angled port.  I also ran the USB test, and battery tests, etc.. This Type "C" port failure is a design defect and has been documented on many examples of this laptop.

There are numerous "youtube" videos about this very same issue.  The failure occurs at the mating of the ports and there is a definite lack of continuity over some of the pins when contact is made.

The fix is a replacement of the motherboard since the ports are not repairable without available parts.  Neither MBs or type "C" ports are available.  There are the occasional used MBs popping up on places like Ebay but the cost varies starting at about $400.

I could also go to Amazon and purchase a "renewed" x360 which explains where all the motherboards went when these defective laptops were exchanged.

HP has lost a customer.
