You're very welcome.

Way back in the old days HP PCs were very strict on what hardware you could install.

You could call it proprietary.

Nowadays as long as the devices you want to install meet the hardware specifications, it makes no difference what brand or model drive or memory you install.

Did you run that Windows command to see if you get 32 GB as an answer?

If you only get 16,xxx,xxx then your PC can only support an 8 GB memory chip.

Sorry I just saw this. Yes it comes out to 32.

i ordered the 8gb. Should be here in a few hours. 🤞

Just to clarify- I do not intend on doing anything super fun or gaming. I understand the laptop is cheaper, I bought it a few years ago. All I am looking to do is be able to have multiple browsers open maybe an application and it not absolutely have a seizure and make me wait a minute between each tab. I also do not do social media on it. By trade, I'm a salesperson, contractor, bartender. So this is by no means my realm of work. I watched a few videos and seemed simple enough to swap these two things out. Again, if I'm just looking to have some speed, are these the right things to be doing? The P3 seems to have sped it up already It just feels like the computer itself or maybe motherboard is trying to keep up. What I will be doing is editing and importing images to send to my printer then do some screen printing. Just a hobby. Thanks again

Again, just trying this out as a $90 upgrade seemed fun & easy enough lol. I'm assuming I would have to do some upgrades to any computer these days, to bypass any cheap or small RAM/memory that will bog me down anyway(?) As every electronic these days seems to have a small life span on purpose so you need to buy another.

Yes,  it should have been easy to do and I don't know why the 16 GB memory chip didn't work.

I still don't know how you got the Crucial NVMe drive to work when no one else could.

HP Recommended

I mean, how would I know that it isn't working lol 🤷 but it does feel faster I swear lol

For one thing there would be two drives showing up in, 'This PC, and the Crucial drive would show a larger storage capacity than 64 GB

If you only see the 64 GB drive, the Crucial drive is not working.

Hi Paul, I'm back. So I hate the 8gb. It seems like it isn't doing anything besides slowing me down. Regarding the SSD, it seemed faster right off the bat, but after reading your comments, I don't know if it's registering or working. So wild with this 8gb slowing everything down. I know the ole one said 4gb, but it also Said 1x16, so maybe that's why it was working faster than this one?

Anyhow, which SSD should I buy? This is going to be my last purchase and I'll toggle between everything to see if I'll keep the additions. What a pain & thank you so so much for your help.

Hi:

That is strange that installing an 8 GB memory chip would slow things down.

At the very worst, it should have not made much of a difference in performance and it should have improved performance at least somewhat.

You need a drive like this:

This is the 1 TB model, but they make smaller capacities as well:

Amazon.com: Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SA510 SATA Internal Solid State Drive SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s,...

I will give it a try and report back!

thanks again!
