Hi @Erinpiper,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Unfortunately, the HP Chromebook X360 14 Inch does not have built-in support for external USB floppy drives. Chromebooks, in general, do not natively support floppy disk drives as they are considered outdated technology.

However, there may be some alternative methods you can explore to transfer your photos from the floppy disks to your Chromebook.

  • Floppy Disk Drive with USB Conversion: You can try finding a USB floppy disk drive that includes a conversion mechanism, such as a built-in floppy-to-USB adapter. These drives typically come with software that allows you to read the contents of the floppy disks and transfer them to a USB storage device. Once the files are on a USB drive, you can connect it to your Chromebook and access the photos.
  • Floppy Disk Drive with Cloud Storage: If you have access to a computer with a floppy disk drive, you can transfer the photos from the floppy disks to the computer. Once the files are on the computer, you can upload them to a cloud storage service like Google Drive or Dropbox. After uploading, you can access the cloud storage service from your Chromebook and download the photos.
  • Floppy Disk Conversion Service: If the above options are not feasible or if you don't have access to a computer with a floppy disk drive, you can consider using a professional floppy disk conversion service. These services can convert the contents of your floppy disks into a more modern digital format, such as CD, DVD, or USB. Once the conversion is done, you can use the resulting digital media to transfer the photos to your Chromebook.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you so much for the information and the ideas to get my photos.  I checked with LegacyBox but they don't convert 3.5 floppy disks.  I didn't even think of checking for other services that might do this.

Thank you again for the information and ideas,

Erinpiper
