I recently bought an HP Omen 16 and I’ve noticed something weird with the performance.
On games like League of Legends or Supervive, I’m getting surprisingly low FPS (50 to 110), even though they’re not very "demanding".
I’ve checked that I’m running on the dedicated GPU (not the integrated one), desinstall omen gaming bar, reinstall it, put performance mode, ... but the issue persists.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Hi @stephan44,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your Omen 16 is giving unexpectedly low FPS in light games even when using the dedicated GPU. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.
Verify the game is really using the NVIDIA GPU
Open NVIDIA Control Panel → Manage 3D Settings → Program Settings.
Select the game → set “Preferred GPU” to “High-performance NVIDIA processor.”
Low FPS often happens when the game silently runs on the iGPU.
Check CPU/GPU temperatures and throttling
Open OMEN Gaming Hub → Performance Control → set to “Performance.”
Open a hardware monitor (HWInfo, MSI Afterburner).
If CPU hits 95°C or GPU hits 87°C, the system will throttle heavily.
Make sure Hybrid Mode is configured correctly
OMEN Gaming Hub → Graphics Switcher.
If available, set to “Discrete Only” (requires restart).
Hybrid mode can cap FPS or route frames through the integrated GPU.
Disable V-Sync and in-game frame caps
In games like League of Legends, V-Sync or a 60–120 FPS cap can force low performance.
Turn V-Sync OFF → set max FPS to “Uncapped.”
Check Windows Power & GPU settings
Settings → System → Power → set to “Best Performance.”
Settings → System → Display → Graphics → choose game → Options → set to “High Performance.”
Update or roll back NVIDIA drivers
Some recent NVIDIA drivers cause low FPS in DX9/DX11 esports titles.
Try the latest driver, and if the problem started recently, roll back to a stable version (e.g., 552.xx).
I hope this helps.
