Pavilion 15-g207ax
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

My laptop shipped with a 4GB DDR3 PC3-12800 800Mhz Hynix made RAM. The processor is a AMD A8 6410. The processor page at amd.com claims that it can support upto 16GB of DDR3L RAM memory (at 1600Mhz).

I am just worried if my laptop is going to support a DDR3L version of 8GB RAM. Will the high voltage output burn the RAM with low voltage expected intake ?

Hi,

Your PC supports max 8GB of DDR3L 1600Mhz RAM. You need to use DDR3L RAM. The 4GB stick in the PC should be DDR3L RAM. There is one slot. You camnpurchase from your preferred brand.

Spec page:

On page 65 of service manual you can see the steps to install RAM:

Hope it helps,

Thanks for quick response.
I was aware of the spec page but the specs page shows that the RAM given in my laptop is a DDR3L 1333Mhz which is incorrect. Both Softwares (used CPU-z and HWiNFO) stated that the RAM module is of 800Mhz (max 933Mhz). I wasn't satisfied with those software and thought they might be stating wrong or a locked stage frequency. So, I dissassembled the whole laptop and looked for my self only to find out that the softwares weren't wrong it was indeed a DDR3 800Mhz RAM and not a 1333Mhz DDR3L RAM.

This is the main reason I am worried about it.

Hi,

The software states 800Mhz, but since it is DDR (double rate) you need to double that and the stick is actually a 1600Mhz stick which will run at 1333Mhz in your system.

You do not need to worry, DDR3L works both in systems which require DDR3 and DDR3L. However DDR3 will not work in systems which need DDR3L. So, best choice is to use DDR3L and follow service manual.

David
