Hi @IP30,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how worrying it can be when your HP laptop won’t charge and shows a flashing red LED. It feels like something serious, especially when you need it for work or daily use. Let’s walk through this together and figure out what’s going on.

Steps to Troubleshoot

1. Check the Charger and Port

  • Use the original HP charger if possible.
  • Inspect the charging cable and adapter for damage.
  • Try a different power outlet.
  • If available, test with another compatible HP charger.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

This can clear temporary power issues:

  • Disconnect the charger and remove any peripherals.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the charger and try powering on.

3. Check for Battery Connection Issues

If your laptop has a removable battery:

  • Remove the battery and clean the contacts.
  • Reinsert it securely and try charging again.

If it’s non-removable, skip this step.

4. Try Charging with Laptop Off

  • Plug in the charger while the laptop is completely off.
  • Wait 30 minutes and then try turning it on.

5. BIOS Restore:

  • Shut down the computer, keep the charger plugged in
  • Hold down the Windows and B buttons together while the computer is still turned off.
  • Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B buttons until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions and click on OK.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
