Had to clean my laptop keyboard - great grand daughter washed it.  After removing and replacing the keys, not all are staying locked in place.  I kneed to replace the keyboard/keys.  Where can I find new keys for this product?

This is an inquiry we unfortunately see pretty regularly. Two things are true, but hard to get your head around: 1. individual laptop keys are not a legitimate replacement part. They are not sold by HP and not readily available and as you have seen, reattaching individual keys is not as easy as it seems it should be. 2. Even the whole keyboard is not a replacment part. What HP offers is the top cover; i.e this piece:

For use in the United States 933724-001

Service Manual

You will find no instructions in the Manual for replacing the top cover; the part surrounding and including the keyboard. That's because it is a residual part. To replace it you disassemble the whole laptop from the bottom down and then rebuild it on the new top cover. Very labor intensive with a lot of places it can go badly.

This is the least expensive top cover I could find:

You may find sellers purporting to offer a keyboard. They have gotten a part used by the vendor who makes the top cover. What they do not tell you that in order to remove the keyboard from the top cover you have to break attachment points. Very rarely is done successfully. The only "right" way to do this is to replace the top cover.

Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.
