Is it possible to upgrade from the factory fitted 8GB?

What is the maximum RAM the system can handle?

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual.

The info in the manual is conflicting, so you will have to open up the notebook and check for yourself if the memory is removable or not before buying memory.

Chapter 1 indicates the memory is onboard (soldered to the motherboard) and is not upgradable.

But if you look in chapter 5, there is a procedure to remove and replace the memory.

The Crucial memory report indicates the memory is not upgradable, but they may be getting that info from Chapter 1 of the manual.

I'm thinking chapter 5 of the manual is correct, and that the memory is hidden underneath the metal shield shown on page 35, and can be upgraded.

If it is upgradable, no doubt you can install a second 8 GB memory chip, and you can probably go as high as 2 x 16 GB if you wanted to.
