While using my laptop, I plugged in the charging wire and it's not recognizing that it's plugged in and of course not charging. I have installed recent updates and rebooted as well a few times. I have also tried different outlets in different rooms with the same outcome.

Hi @ErinTF ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY x360 is not charging despite trying different outlets and rebooting the laptop, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide:
Check the Power Adapter:
- Make sure the power adapter is securely connected to both the laptop and the power outlet.
- Check for any damage to the power adapter or its cable. If you notice any fraying or damage, it may be a sign that the adapter needs to be replaced.
Inspect the Charging Port:
- Examine the charging port on your laptop for any debris, dust, or lint. Use compressed air to clean it out gently.
- Ensure that there are no visible signs of damage to the charging port.
Try a Different Charger:
- If possible, try using a different compatible charger to see if the issue is with the charger itself.
Check the Battery:
- Go to the device manager on your laptop and find the battery section.
- Right-click on the battery and select "Uninstall device." Then, restart your laptop, and the battery driver will be reinstalled.
Update or Roll Back Battery Drivers:
- In the device manager, you can also try updating or rolling back the battery drivers.
- Right-click on the battery in the device manager, choose "Update driver," and follow the on-screen instructions.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Shut down your laptop and disconnect all external devices.
- Disconnect the power adapter.
- Remove the laptop battery if it's removable.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then turn on the laptop.
Check the BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Access the BIOS/UEFI settings during startup (usually by pressing F10 or Esc) and check for any power-related settings.
- Ensure that the charging option is enabled.
Perform a System Diagnostics:
- Many HP laptops have built-in diagnostics. Restart your laptop and press the ESC key or F2 key to access the diagnostics menu. Run a system test to check for any hardware issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
