I am using the model 15-dw1083wm. My problem is that when I plug in the charger the orange light does not turn on. When I tap the power button nothing happens. And this has happened before. But when it did happen I waited a few months and it worked again. And now it’s back to not working. I don’t know if it’s a charger problem, or a computer battery problem. And it is out of warranty. I just want to know what the problem is, and if I can fix it

Hi @Igor96,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the issue you're experiencing with your HP Notebook - 15-dw1083wm not charging and not powering on could stem from several possible causes. Let's systematically troubleshoot:
Please try the following Troubleshoots steps.
1. Turn off the Unit.
2. Disconnect the AC adapter.
3. Remove any discs from the disc drive.
4. Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.
5. Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.
6. Disconnect the AC adapter press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
7. Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.
Step 2
Turn off the unit and please press and hold the Windows key + letter B key and the power button together for 30 seconds after 30 seconds, 1st release the power button but keep holding the Windows key and B key for ten more seconds and then release these two keys If done correctly, you will see the display flashing once. Please attempt it thrice as this step and Restart the unit
Step3
The unit has to be turned off, Press Win+ V while holding these two keys then Press the Power button, continue to hold all three keys for 30 seconds and then release the Power button first and then release these two keys Please attempt it thrice and then you may get a Pop-Up CMOS Check and it will restart the unit
Even if you don't get a Pop-up restart the unit manually after 3 attempts.
After the above troubleshooting steps if the unit turns on
1. Check the Charger
- Inspect the charger: Look for visible damage, such as frayed wires or a bent connector pin. If there's any damage, the charger may not work correctly.
- Test the charger: Use the charger on another compatible device (if available). Alternatively, use a known working charger to see if your notebook responds.
- Inspect the port: Check the charging port on your notebook for dust, debris, or bent pins that could prevent a proper connection.
2. Perform a Hard Reset
Sometimes a power reset can resolve charging and power issues.
- Unplug the charger and remove any connected peripherals (e.g., USB devices).
- Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Plug the charger back in and attempt to power on the notebook.
3. Check for Battery Issues
- Battery indicator light: If the light remains off, it could indicate a battery or charger issue.
- Remove the battery (if removable): If your model has a removable battery, remove it, connect the charger, and try powering on the laptop. If it works, the battery may be faulty.
- Built-in battery reset: Some notebooks have a small pinhole near the battery compartment. Use a paperclip to press the reset button for 10–15 seconds.
4. Test for Internal Issues
- If the notebook shows no response after trying the above steps, the issue may be internal. Possible causes:
- Faulty power circuit: The charging port or power circuitry may need repair.
- Damaged battery: The battery may no longer hold a charge.
- Motherboard issue: A deeper hardware issue could be the root cause.
