I want to know which SSD should I use for my hp bs542tu laptop. I see there is Nvme SSD slot in my laptop and i would like to add a new nvme SSD instead of sata SSD (where people are removing the hdd and adding sata SSD in its place). What I want to do is, want to add a new nvme SSD in the ssd slot by keeping the hdd in its place intact. Can I able to that as there is a slot present in the laptop? If yes, any suggestions for using which nvme SSD with model name and link pls. I've attached screenshot of the nvme SSD slot.

Your notebook's M.2 slot only supports M.2 SATA SSDs, not NVMe.
See chapter 1 of the service manual:
HP 15 Laptop PC (Intel)HP 15g Laptop PCHP 15q Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide
This would be an example of a M.2 SATA SSD you would need:
You can retain the 2.5" mechanical hard drive for storage, but you can't have Windows on it or the notebook will always want to boot from the 2.5" drive and not the M.2 SSD.

Can I use this SSD
Samsung 860 EVO 250GB SATA M.2 (2280) Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (MZ-N6E250) ?
Or this one?
Western Digital WD Blue SN580 PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD Internal Storage, 500GB
Any other brand SSD which is faster and affordable?

You can use the Samsung 860 M.2 SATA.
The WD Blue SN580 is NVMe and has absolutely no chance of working. No NVMe SSD will work.
You might be able to use the free Samsung Magician software to clone the 2.5" drives contents to the SSD, but you would have to have less than 250 GB of data used on the hard drive or buy a larger capacity Samsung M2 SATA SSD if you don't.

Every HP notebook and desktop PC has a M.2 slot with one key that looks like it will support a NVMe SSD.
That is why you have to read the service manual.
Some PC's M.2 slots support SATA only such as the 15-bs### model series.
Some PC's M.2 slots support both NVMe and SATA SSD's
Some PC's only support NVMe SSD's.
Do a search on the forum, and you will find many posts on the forum by folks that installed NVMe SSD's in the 15-bs### model series and inquired as to why they didn't work.
Here's one by some unfortunate fellow that installed a NVMe SSD in their 15-bs notebook and cooked the slot.
Most of the time they just don't work, they don't burn up the PC.
