Hi @vanthychum,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
On some HP laptops like the HP Pavilion HDX18, the logo light on the back of the display may remain on even when the laptop is powered off. This is typically controlled by the BIOS or power settings. Here are some steps you can try to turn off the light:
1. Check BIOS Settings:
- Restart your laptop and press F10 (or another key depending on your laptop) to enter the BIOS setup.
- Look for options related to LED control, Logo light, or Backlight control in the BIOS. Some laptops allow you to turn off the logo light through the BIOS.
- If such an option exists, disable it, save the changes, and exit the BIOS.
2. Check Power Settings:
- Sometimes, the light remains on due to the power settings (especially if the laptop has a feature like "fast startup").
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
- Click Change settings that are currently unavailable, and uncheck Turn on fast startup under Shutdown settings.
- Save the changes and shut down the laptop to see if the light turns off.
3. Check HP Utility Software:
- Some HP laptops come with a utility or driver that allows control of lighting settings (e.g., HP Command Center or HP OMEN Command Center).
- Check if there is such software installed on your laptop and look for an option to disable the logo light.
4. Disconnect External Power:
- If the light remains on even after shutdown, try unplugging the power adapter and see if it turns off.
- If it’s still on, the light may be powered by residual power in the system. Performing a hard reset (holding the power button down for 15-20 seconds) might help in such cases.
Unfortunately, if there’s no dedicated control, and none of the above steps work, the light might be a built-in feature of the laptop that stays on until the power is completely drained or disconnected.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
