HP 15-r014tu Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to add a 240GB SSD to my HP 15-r014tu while still keeping the original 1TB HDD.

Does this laptop have an M.2 slot?

Is the optical drive port SATA2 or SATA3?

If SATA3, would it make any difference if the SSD is connected to the optical drive port or to the HDD port (by moving the present 1TB disk to the optical drive port)?

Thank you

Hi:

Your notebook does not have any M.2 slots to add a SSD.

Most likely the port the DVD drive is connected to is SATA II, so if you plan on installing a SSD, replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD and install the 2.5" SSD in an optical drive caddy.

Below is the link to the service manual.

The DVD drive is 9.5 mm thick according to chapter 1, page 2 of the manual.
