Hi:
Below is the link to the crucial memory report for your model.
2 x 8 GB is the max.

Hi:
Yes, you can do that, but eventually I recommend you go to 2 x 8 GB, and here's why...
The memory will run in the higher performing dual data rate (DDR) mode with matching capacities (2 x 4, 2 x 8).
When you install memory in mismatched capacities (4 + 8, 2 + 4), the memory runs in the lower performing single data rate (SDR) mode.

If your goal is to eventually max out the memory, it would be a waste of money to buy another 4 GB memory chip, just to remove both of them and replace with 2 x 8 GB.
Better to either buy 2 x 8 GB now, or add 1 x 8 GB, live with 12 GB for a while and if money is a problem, save up to get the second 8 GB memory module and buy it when you can afford it.
But buying a 4 GB chip now would be throwing good money after bad.
I would only buy a second 4 GB memory module if I never planned on ever going beyond 8 GB of memory.

100% sure you can install 2 x 8 GB.
The service manual is wrong, where it shows the max is 8 GB.
If you can put 8 GB in one slot as it shows, then you can put 8 GB in two slots.
