Yes that would be fine, but the memory will run in the lower performing single data rate mode like it is now.

 

Memory runs in the better performing dual data rate mode when it is installed in matching capacities (2 x 4 GB, 2 x 8 GB).

Hi there, Thanks for helping. I have one more query i.e.

Whether i can install 4gb RAM in one Slot and 8gb RAM in another? which means total of 12gb RAM. Because I already have 4gb in one slot and another one is empty.
