I want to upgrade CPU

Hello. I received a used laptop and want to upgrade the CPU to a faster one if possible, It has a A8-4500m. I see from some Googling that there maybe a chance with an A10-4600m. Is this true? 

Is there a faster CPU that may be supported?

On Page 1 is a list of compatible processors.  The A10-4600M is on the list.  Truthfully, I am not certain that you will see that much of system performance boost with only 400 MHz increase in speed.  Your current processor A8 is a Quad-Core and so is the A10.  If yours was a Dual-Core it would make a major difference.  I saw a A10-4600M on Amazon for $99.99.  So, it wouldn't cost much to try it.

All of these processors have been fully tested to assure they are compatible with the motherboard.  Any other processor will most likely NOT work.

The fact is, you would probably see as much increase in system performance if you change the Hard Drive (HDD) to a Solid-State Drive (SSD).  This would increase boot times considerably.  Here are the SSD's that are recommended by Crucial Memory: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/pavilion-g7-2269wm

Thank you for the reply. I was also thinking of replacing the CPU because the heatsink had been plugged with debris causing thermal shut downs. I'm not Shure if this may have damaged the CPU. I have since disassembled the cooled and cleaned it. But I still wonder about thermal damage. Do you have an opinion on that?

If you know, I thought about changing RAM from 8GB to 16GB. Do you know if that would be supported?

You should use a third-party software to check the temperatures inside of the laptop.  I doubt that there was thermal damage if the computer is running properly.  If the temperatures are too high this could be a problem.

No, on Page 2 in the Guide that I provided it states the the maximum memory is 8 GB.

Hello and thank you. I am using CPUID HWMonitor. PKG temperature is running between 40 C doing light work and up to 68 C which is normal. But before I pulled the cooler apart it would reach 93 C before shutting down. The "core" temperatures are running between 83 C to 242 C. Core temps, not PKG temps. This is afer cleaning the cpu cooler. The fan is working good,

@Minenow, it sounds like you have the situation under control.  I have used HWMonitor on my computer, also.  I use NZXT Cam at this point.
