HP Notebook - 15-db1008nv

I know that I need a battery with a voltage between 10.8V and 11.5V, but I’m unsure if a larger capacity battery will be physically compatible with my laptop. My goal is not just to replace my current battery with the same model, but to upgrade to one that offers better performance and longer battery life, as I want to extend my unplugged usage beyond 4-5 hours.

So, I’m looking for either an official HP product that meets these criteria or guidance on how to find a compatible high-capacity battery that fits my laptop and serves as a seamless replacement for my current one. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @LazyMan118

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Upgrading your HP laptop battery to a higher capacity like 6500mAh is an interesting idea to extend the battery life. However, there are several important things to consider before you proceed with such an upgrade. Here are the key points:

1. Compatibility with Your Laptop

First and foremost, you need to ensure that the upgraded battery is compatible with your HP laptop, especially in terms of:

  • Physical Size and Fit: The battery must fit properly in the battery compartment of your laptop. If the replacement battery is too large or does not match the slot, it may not fit or function properly.
  • Voltage (V): The voltage of the new battery must match that of the original battery. If the voltage is higher or lower than what the laptop is designed to support, it could potentially damage the system or lead to overheating and failure.
  • Connector Type: Ensure that the battery connector (the part that connects to the motherboard) is the same on the new battery as the old one.

If your laptop uses a PABAS0241231 (HP 15-db1008nv) battery, then you need to find a battery with the same connector type, voltage, and form factor but with a higher capacity (mAh).
