Hi:

Below is the link to the Crucial memory report for your notebook's model series.

HP - Compaq HP 15s-fq2000 | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial UK

According to the report you can install up to 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-3200 memory.

For a SSD, they sell NVMe SSD's up to 4 TB in the model series.

Your notebook's M.2 NVMe slot is PCie Gen 3.0.

A PCie Gen 4.0 SSD will work, but not at its maximum advertised read/write speeds.

This chart provides the theoretical maximum transfer speeds from the different generation PCIe revisions.

PCIe Speeds and Limitations | Crucial.com

HP only has the service manual for the older 15s-fq0000 model series available.

According to the specs, the memory you posted should work since they indicate it is CL22).

The Samsung 980 is an excellent choice, IMHO.

I have the 1 TB model on my HP Elitedesk 800 G3 DM and it works great.

You're very welcome.

One more question, will I be able to install just one stick of 16GB of ram? Or do I have to install 2 8 gigs

HP Recommended

Here are your options:

2 x 8 GB of memory = 16 GB which will run in dual channel mode.

Leaving the existing 8 GB memory chip installed and adding the 16 GB chip will result in 24 GB of memory running in single channel mode.

Removing the 8 GB chip and just installing a single 16 GB chip will result in 16 GB of memory running in single channel mode, so it would make no sense to remove the 8 GB chip.

Installing 2 x 16 GB of memory = 32 GB which will run in dual channel mode.

so which one do you recommend if im on a budget
