I want to upgrade my HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop - 16-a0800nd's ram from 8GB to a 16GB or even higher but i am not sure what the max ram is on my laptop or which ram i can have in it. I've looked it up but couldn't find anything that could help me. So i am wondering which ram i could use to upgrade it and whats the max ram i can have in my laptop that only has 2 slots.

Hi:
According to chapter 1 of the service manual, your notebook has two memory slots and can support up to 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-3200 memory.
Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)
Most likely, your notebook can support more memory than that if you need it.
You can do this to see how much memory your notebook can actually support...
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Yes.
If you read the memory info in chapter 1 of the manual, it indicates...
DDR4-2933 dual-channel support (DDR4-3200 downgrade to 2933)
This would be a compatible 8 GB memory chip for your notebook...
