Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to upgrade my storage from internal hard drive to hybrid system.

My plan is to use DVD drive slot to place SSD and upgrade the RAM

My question are as follow:

(1) Does my notebook model have SATA-3 ports in Optical drive slot?

(2) Is there any issue for using 4Gb+8Gb RAM combination ?

(3) Some other precautions to take which you can suggest.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

HP does not recommend upgrading or downgrading hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product as It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance, however, you could change the configuration at your own discretion.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Yes you can definitely replace your laptop CD drive with SSD.  But it will only work if you will install your operating system in SSD and by giving it first boot priority in BIOS setting. The process is very simple you will have to remove your CD drive completely.
I would not expect HP to do anything since that is the way they designed the product. HP tolerates upgrades, but does not officially endorse or support them.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank u for your suggestions. But i already know the full procedure of installation of SSD in optical drive. But the problem is i checked every where but not got any information about the optical drive SATA port information. So kindly just tell me just SATA port information of the optical drive. Is that SATA- 3 or not?

My current optical drive is running on SATA150. My question is, what is the motherboard SATA version support which is connected to optical drive. Is that SATA- 3/SATA600 or not?

To get the answer to this question, HP does not recommend to use a different model motherboard as they are not tested by HP and may not be accurate. however, you could change the configuration at your own discretion.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
