Hi,

If we look on page 1 of service manual we see that the notebook supports 16GB of DDR4 2400Mhz RAM (2x8GB)

However, HP DDR4 systems will run with 32GB of DDR4 RAM (2x16GB), so that would be the actual max. There are two slots and at the moment you have one stick of 8Gb in one slot and one empty slot. You can buy RAM from your preferred brand such as Crucial, Samsung...

On page 35 of service manual you can see the steps to upgrade the RAM:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05228250

At the moment you have a 256GB M2 SATA3 SSD in your system. You can either upgrade the M2 drive with a larger capacity drive. For example a M2 Samsung 860evo 1TB drive or you could place a 2.5"SSD such as the Samsung 2.5" 860evo.

If you want to place a 2.5" SSD, you will need the hard drive cable which has part number 856352-001 and bracket (you can also use some strong double-sided tape instead of the bracket.

Example:

On page 32 of service manual you can see the steps to place a 2.5" drive.

Hope it helps,

David

Hi Dean.

Thank you for your valueable reply. I totally understood. Just one more thing. If i upgrade using a 2.5 inch SSD, can I keep both the drives(the original M2 and 2.5 SSD), or I will have to keep only 2.5 and knock of the original M2?

Thank you so much
