I would like to replace the Network Interface Card for a HP ENVY - 15-as133cl Notebook. I have 1Gbps download capability through Xfinity and my Arris SURFboard SBG8300 WiFi/Cable Modem.
I'm maxing out at 260 Mbps even when connected directly through the modem via the ethernet.
Thanks,
Marc

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
- Step 1: Detecting and removing spyware and adware
- Step 2: Scanning for and removing viruses
- Step 3: Blocking browser pop-ups
- Step 4: Clearing browser history, removing temporary Internet files, and resetting browser settings
- Step 5: Updating network drivers
- Step 6: Disabling software that opens with Windows
- Step 7: Contacting your Internet Service Provider
- Step 8: Disabling or modifying how programs access the Internet

Thanks Echo_Lake, but unfortunately I've done these steps. I found this on the HP site I'm sure it comes down to hardware:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01530828
..."As 1GB Ethernet becomes the standard shipped on HP Notebook PCs (my laptop is 3 yrs old), however obtaining this throughput is not practical. A throughput of 300 mbps (I'm getting 260) is more likely the maximum obtainable due to hard drive limitations, TCP/IP overhead, and other limiting factors. However, the migration to this standard allows HP to be able to handle future capabilities."
I've checked the ARRIS SURFboard SBG8300 wifi cable modem IT help and confirmed with ISP on downstream capability. If you see above from HP support it has to be hard drive or hardware of the laptop itself. The Intel NIC card maxs out at 867 Mbps, but other factors of the laptop itself is limiting it. I'm at a loss other than a new laptop.
Thanks for reaching out
