Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have an HP laptop model 15-ay104nx, and it was equipped with 500 GB when I bought.

Below link include my laptop specs:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05250459

Now I would like to increase its storage capacity from 500 GB HDD to 2 TB HDD, and i want to know if this is possible or not? and shall I expect any slow issue when I upgrade?

also please advise what is the best way to divid its sections for operation system (C drive) and other drives?

Thanks in advance.

Any laptop that works with a 500GB SATA drive will also work with a 2TB drive.

As to partitioning, your current drive probably has 3, maybe four, partitions to include the following: ESP, OS, HP_TOOLS, Recovery.  IF it is formatted GPT (which it most likely IS), then  with the new drive, you could easily add another partition for holding large data files.

A good partitioning tool that is available for free is MiniTool Partition Wizard -- you can get it here:  https://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html
