Hello,
To login via Windows Hello my laptop uses the webcam in combination with the IR camera (red light left of normal camera).
This worked perfect until a few weeks ago. After checking this forum I learned to uninstall the device via the device manager of windows under the "Biometric devices". After a restart windows automatically reinstalls the correct drivers and the IR camera works fine again.
So the solution works but I have to do this every 2 days. Is there a more permanent solution to this problem?
I also downloaded the new drivers for the webcam (SP88464) which also gives only a temporarily solution.
Thank you.
Regards,
Dino

Hi @Dino737,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the IR camera on your HP Spectre X360 13.5 Inch 2-in-1 laptop is not working for Windows login, but the normal webcam functions properly, there are a few potential solutions you can try.
- Update drivers: Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for the IR camera. Visit the official HP support website, enter your laptop's model number, and download the latest drivers specifically for the IR camera.
- Check Windows Hello settings: Verify that the Windows Hello feature is enabled and set up correctly. Open the Settings app, go to Accounts > Sign-in options, and make sure the "Windows Hello Face" option is enabled. If it is enabled, you can try removing and reconfiguring your face recognition.
- Reinstall IR camera drivers: If updating the drivers did not resolve the issue, you can try reinstalling them. Open the Device Manager (right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager), locate the IR camera under the "Imaging devices" category, right-click on it, choose "Uninstall device," and then restart your laptop. After the restart, Windows should automatically reinstall the drivers.
- Check privacy settings: Ensure that the privacy settings are not blocking the IR camera. Open the Settings app, go to Privacy > Camera, and make sure the "Allow apps to access your camera" toggle is turned on. Additionally, scroll down and verify that the toggle for "Allow desktop apps to access your camera" is also turned on.
- Perform a system update: Make sure that your Windows operating system is up to date. Open the Settings app, go to Update & Security, and click on "Check for updates" to install any pending updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for all the different possible solutions.
I tried all of them and most of them fix the issue only temporarily: the IR camera works with the next restarts but the next day when starting my laptop it doesn't work anymore and I have to do "the fix" again.
2 days ago I did a Windows update and until now the problem seems to have disappeared so I hope it stays like this!
