Hello, im trying to upgrade processor in my old compaq Presario CQ60 205EC. Currently it has a AMD athlon 64 x2 QL-62 processor, 4GB RAM, 230 GB SSD and is running on Windows 10 OS.

What processors are compatible?

you cant' upgrade CPU....well not easily (if at all) and definitely not worth it.

 

Why not get more RAM?  That would be check, simple to install and improve performance WAY more!

 

Do you NEED a faster PC?  I've upgraded older PCs (and laptops) but adding RAM and a faster SSD and installed Windows 11 on even 10+ year old PCs.  For the average user, it is fine.

 

If you need to run Photoshop, Autocad, video editing, forget about anything but a NEW PC

I already upgraded the HHD to an SSD and 4GB of ram is maximum capacity that the motherboard accepts. And the CPU isn't soldered, it has a S1 socket so why can't I upgrade it?
