SInce we bought the laptop the inbuilt microphone has barely picked up any input.  We have followed virtual assistant and checked drivers and levels (volume at 90% and booster at 20.... no differance.  If I type the mic it picks up but as soon as I am slightly to one side of PC or more than 6 inches away no one can here me on any app.  Please help ... please don't cut and paste the standard answers as been down these channels.

Sorry, but we HERE have no way of accessing your PC or diagnosing any problems with it. All we can provide is "standard" answers.  Telling us basically NOT to tell you what you've already heard is of no help to us at all.

IF it is software, that would be drivers and if you have replaced the ones with those from your HP product page, we have no other drivers we can suggest.

It could also be settings -- but if you have checked those and confirmed whether or not the mic actually works, then again, there is nothing we can do from here.

IF it is hardware, the mic is built into the laptop and having it replaced would cost a LOT -- possibly as much as replacing the laptop itself.
