I broke my original HP charger last week and I went to my local best buy. I bought what the best buy had to offer which was a targus universal charger. The charger charges my laptop but this message keeps showing up. "Incompatible power source detected. Your computer will run in reduced performance mode and may not charge. Use of the original power adapter is recommended". Is there anyway I could make it so my laptop does not run into reduced performance mode? I would buy a charger from HP but I don't have the money currently.

My suggestion: use it for now and saving money to buy a proper charger. Charger and machine talk to each other and machine knows the "fake" charger. HP probably wouldn't supply a way to get out the protected hardware.
Hope this makes sense.
Regards.
