My warranty information on the HP website states that it started on 8/7/2017 and ended on 9/10/2018.  However, the laptop was not even purchased until 8/26/2019,  I have a hardware issue with the fan and need to have warranty service performed.  How can I get this incorrect warranty information changed?

The HP warranty starts the date the PC is BUILT, not when it is SOLD.  So, it can easily sit on a shelf in a store or in a box in a warehouse for a LONG time before someone actually buys it.

Sorry, but we can not fix the warranty date issue for you or I would.  Instead, you have to contact HP Customer Support to have that done.

To contact HP Support see the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:
Step 1. Goto this page https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone number
Case number and phone number appear.

I don't get the "Still need help" option, possible because it is out of warranty?  For the life of me, I cannot discover ANY information on hp.com on how to actually contact HP -only the HP support community or the "virtual assistant" which just keeps displaying my warranty info over and over.

Dear @WAWood,

My sincere apologies to you if I am wrong. The warranty will start from the date of purchase. It is not always possible to buy a PC immediately after building.

@hanumantha

The warranty starts from when the PC is BUILT because that is set at the factory.  They have no way of knowing when any PC is going to actually be purchased.

When someone then buys it, they are supposed to Register it -- and that resets the warranty to the purchase date they supply.

If they don't register it, the start date does not change -- and the is what happens when we see folks complaining about a 9-month old PC with the warranty expiring -- they never registered it to reset the date.

Dear Sir,

Thank you so much for your reply.

I am very new to this community. I have one small question regarding this warranty. I will be very thankful to you if you give me a suggestion regarding this.

Recently, I bought a HP laptop from HP online store and it got delivered from a reseller. I have registered the product in the website. It is showing only 7 months warranty only instead of one year. I have submitted necessary documents to HP team to update the warranty. Unfortunately, it got rejected. The reason they are telling is born-on-date in the boot menu. The born-on-date is in Dec. 2019 and I purchased the product May 2020. I tried contacting HP support team, they could not resolve it and suggesting me to contact the reseller.

If I buy a product from HP official website, why cann't they take of these issues.

Thanking you sir. If it is required, I'll send the details to you personally.
