Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, my laptop is HP envy 14 (2015 model) with Intel core i5(6th gen), 4GB RAM and 128GB SATA SSD.

Is it possible I can increase my RAM to 8GB or higher? Because I always face slow down whenever I open up many tabs in chrome while multitasking with Microsoft software.

I want to increase my SSD storage to 512GB or higher since my laptop has only about 20GB left, which I have carry around my external HDD storage with me, which definitely caused inconvenience and slow down in performance.

I was thinking since all these are built in with unibody design, I don't know whether it is possible to done all that above.

thank you in advanced.

Hi @Phfay3445,

Good Day.   Thank you for stopping by the HP forums. I reviewed the post regarding information for upgrading the ram and SSD modules.)  I will be glad to assist you here. 🙂

Superb description and splendid diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

After doing some research I found out from the product specs link: https://support.hp.com/ee-en/document/c04822583  that the maximum Ram supported for the device is 4GB.  Ram upgrades may not be possible. I am not beating around the bush here. I am being honest about it.

As far as SSDs are concerned since there is an M.2 slot installed on the computer’s motherboard it should normally be upgradeable to a higher capacity SSD.

Please note that HP does not recommend upgrading either the operating system or the computer’s hardware as the components that were initially installed with the unit are certified by HP for optimal performance. However, as you are very technically inclined, I would still request you to consult a local technician like Best Buy or Staples before proceeding to upgrade the unit.

So please contact a local Best Buy or staples technician and perform the upgrade so that there are no compatibility issues with the SSD for your computer and everything works smoothly.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a superb week ahead. 🙂
