I am constantly receiving messages saying that I need to update my computer but that I cannot do so as there is not sufficient memory but the computer is almost empty. All the memory is taken by 'system'. This computer otherwise functions well so I was hoping that I could upgrade the memory. I went on the 'Crucial' site and it appeared to recommend the Crucial 4GB DDR3L-1866 SODIMM
They will refund me if it doesn't work, but I am concerned that it could 'fry the motherboard' - this was said on a review.
Can you please confirm if this would be an appropriate solution to my problem?
Kind regards,
Maya

Hi, Maya:
Below is the link to the product specs for your notebook.
https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c05373660
It has 2 GB DDR3L-1600 SDRAM (onboard) memory which means that the memory is an integral part of the motherboard and upgrading it isn't possible.
If you look on the Crucial memory, UK website, and enter your model info like I have done at the link below, you will see that they confirm what I have written.
