I hope this message finds you well. I'm considering upgrading the RAM and SSD in my HP laptop and would appreciate your guidance. I want to upgrade the RAM to 16 GB, but I'm unsure whether I should purchase a single 16 GB RAM stick or two 8 GB RAM sticks for better performance. Additionally, a shop vendor informed me that my laptop might only have one RAM slot, but I'm not certain about this and would appreciate your confirmation on the number of RAM slots available in my laptop.
Moreover, I'm planning to upgrade my M.2 SSD to a 1 TB capacity and would like to know if this upgrade is possible for my specific model. Could you also recommend the best compatible SSD options for my laptop? Your assistance in providing the correct information and recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Hi:
The service manual does not provide any info regarding the models with the Celeron procesors.
HP 240 G7 Notebook PCHP 246 G7 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide
Your notebook has one memory slot and the maximum memory the slot can support is 1 x 8 GB.
The notebook only supports a 2.5" drive so your only option for a SSD would be to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD.
Here is an eBay listing of the 240 G7 motherboard that has the Celeron processor.
For HP TPN-I131 240,246 G7 14-CK 14Q-CS N4000 L23234-601 14-STD-GLK Motherboard | eBay
Note the one memory slot and no M.2 slot for a SSD in the photo.
This should be a compatible 8 GB memory chip for your notebook if it only has 4 GB installed now:
For a 2.5" SSD, I recommend one of the WD Blue SA510 2.5" drives in a storage capacity that meets your needs and budget.

Thank you so much for the detailed guidance I really appreciate you taking the time to provide all the information. I’ve been struggling with my current laptop, especially since it only has 4 GB of RAM, and it’s been lagging severely. This has made it quite difficult to manage my university work efficiently. The laptop has been good in terms of being lightweight and sturdy, which I liked. However, the performance issues are becoming a major obstacle, given that it only supports 8 GB of RAM and no M.2 slot for SSDs, upgrading it further doesn't seem like a practical solution. I’m now leaning towards getting a newer HP model that can handle my needs better and offer better performance. Your suggestions have been really helpful in guiding me through this decision. Thanks again for all your help, bro. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

You're very welcome.
If you want an Intel 14" notebook don't buy anything with less than an i5 processor and 8 GB of memory.
They should all come with NVMe SSD's nowadays.
Intel core processor notebooks should have an empty memory slot to install a second memory chip if necessary.
Also note that some notebooks now have memory that is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be upgraded, so 'do your homework' when shopping as they say.
If you want one of those, make sure you can get it with 16 GB of memory.

Yeah, sure I'll definitely follow your suggestions and go for it. Since I have to do a lot of SEO and a little bit of Graphic designing work, I need to open multiple tabs in Chrome, so 16 GB of RAM is essential. I'm considering either an i5 10th gen or an i7 10th gen processor with an M.2 NVMe SSD. That combination should ensure everything runs smoothly. Thanks for the heads-up about the memory being soldered to the motherboard I'll make sure to avoid those models. I appreciate the advice.
