Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-d0000 (2V8U8AV)

I am the owner of an HP Victus 16-d0000 laptop and I am considering upgrading its storage. I would like to install a 2TB PCIe Gen 3 NVMe SSD on slot 2, but I am unsure if my laptop model supports this.

Could you please confirm if the HP Victus 16-d0000 supports a 2TB PCIe Gen 3 NVMe SSD? If not, could you please let me know what the maximum supported capacity and speed for an NVMe SSD on this model are?

Hi:

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that HP offered NVMe SSD's up to 1 TB in the model series.

That is usually just what HP offered in the model series, not the maximum capacity supported.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

I don't see any reason why a 2 TB NVMe SSD wouldn't work, but there is no 100% guarantee that it will.

Note that your notebook has support for 2 NVMe SSD's.

See chapter 5, page 32 of the manual for the location of where the 2 NVMe SSD's go.

Hi!

These TigerLake Victus laptops were sold with 2TB or 2x2TB setups, so 2TB SSDs will work fine. The first SSD slot is Gen4 and the second is only Gen3, and this is true for the next (AlderLake) generation as seen here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/SOLVED-Maximum-upgrade-options.... Therefore, SSDs with higher speeds than Gen3 will only run at the lower speed of the slot.

Hello,

I appreciate both of your insightful responses. I've  placed an order for two 16GB DDR4 RAM modules and a 2TB PCIe Gen 3 WD SSD.

With a bit of luck, I should have them installed in my laptop without any issues within the next two days.
