HP 17 Laptop PC 17-cp2000 (6Z603AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, all,
The RTL8821CE adapter functionned perfectly more than one year with the initial OS/drivers versions. And I think the successive updates led to a continuous instability of the wifi link.
Now, I consider upgrading with a Wifi 6 module. Please, could someone tell me what are the compatible references/part numbers ?
Thanks, regards,
TBM

You're very welcome.

The 6Z603AV is for the base model which includes every option that HP installs in the model series.

Your notebook's 7Q8B0EA product number is for the specific model HP 17-cp2000nf sold in France with the parts and specifications that model number came with.

HP PartSurfer

As you can see from the above parts list, the only Wi-Fi adapter listed is the one your notebook currently has installed, not the other 4 Wi-Fi models supported in the model series.

M50374-001   ANTENNA SINGLE

M09870-005  WLAN Realtek COCO ac 1x1 (RTL8821CE)

Hi:

The first thing to do is to see if updating the Wi-Fi driver to the latest version HP currently has helps any.

Version 2024.10.231.0

sp168341.exe

According to the parts list for the model series, there were five supported Wi-Fi adapters HP used.

HP PartSurfer

Since your notebook only has one antenna wire for the RTL8821CE Wi-Fi adapter, you would be limited to upgrading to this model Wi-Fi card/part number:

RTL8852BE-VS+BT5.3    HP part # N26166-005

Below is the link to the service manual for the model series:

Hi, Paul,
Thank you for your rapid answer and your precious help.

I upgaded the driver from 2024.10.230.601 to the one you mentioned 2024.10.231.0  I will test it for a while, working perfectly right now.

I see that the part surfer ignores the part # of this laptop (6Z603AV), but the serial # seems to lead to an equivalent : 7Q8B0EA ?

I will look for the recommended RTL8852 part.

Thank you so much !
