I want to install SSD for batter performance but i didn't now which type of SSD is supported in my laptop so can you please tell me that which type of SSD is supported in my HP Elitebook 840 G1.

You can use either a 2.5 inch SATA SSD in place of the hard drive or, there is an M.2 SSD slot but it is a 2242 form factor and those are now somewhat obsolete and hard but not impossible to find in the market.
