Hello,
I would like to install an SSD model Samsung MZ-76E250B SSD Internal Unit 860 EVO, 250 GB, 2.5 "SATA III on my laptop.
I would like to know if it is compatible and what are the possible operations to do.
Is the BIOS compatible?
I have read that there could be problems if there is not the AHCI option and in the BIOS of my computer that option is not available.
Can I proceed anyway?
Cloning with Macrium Reflect software all the old hard disk will the SSD work properly?

Thanks for the answers!

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

I see you need help in upgrading the SSD, on HP Pavilion dv5-1015ea Entertainment Notebook PC. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you.

NOTE: If your computer includes a solid-state drive (SSD), you may not have a recovery partition. You will not be able to recover using this procedure. Recovery discs have been included for computers that do not have a partition. Use these discs to recover your operating system and software.

Product description :

  • Hard drives Support all Serial ATA (SATA) 9.5-mm,
  • 2.5-inch hard drives
  • Supports up to 2 hard drives
  • Support for Accelerometer hard
  • drive protection
  • Support for solid-state drive (SSD) on
  • dual hard drive configurations, with SSD
  • set as the primary drive

Next thing, I would suggest here is to go through the Maintenance and Service guide of your HP notebook.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thanks for the reply,
I apologize for my English from Google translate!
Maybe I did not explain well! The situation is this:
I have my laptop with an HHD on which I installed Windows 7 and Linux Mint in dual boot. Completing the disk there is a third data-only partition and an old recovery partition left over from when there was only Windows Vista.
I'm not interested in recovery. Instead I would like to clone Windows 7, Linux Mint and if possible also the data partition and transfer everything to a new SSD.
I wonder if this can involve risks or problems or if you do the cloning simply insert the SSD instead of the old HHD!
