HP ENVY - 17-u163cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to install a 500GB-1TB nVME ssd in my laptop but i can't seem to get a specific answer as to if this is possible?  Based on specs, my laptop does show it accepts SSD. My concern is that the service guide shows a 256 GB number but I cant discern if that is a max size or what? I hope not.

Any guidance and finality to this subject would be great before i waste money on something that wont work.

Hi:

According to the manual, I only see that SATA M.2 SSD's are supported, not NVMe.

Also, if you look at chapter 3, there are different motherboards.

The come with hard drive connectors or solid state drive connectors.

So, it is very possible your notebook does not have a M.2 slot and I would open it up and check first before buying a M.2 SATA SSD.

If your notebook has a M.2 slot, the Crucial memory report indicates you can install up to a 1 TB SATA M.2 SSD.
