Hi,

It is possible. However, it will most likely be very expensive and not a simple "upgrade" as the keyboard is integrated into the top cover. So you would need to purchase a new top cover/keyboard with backlight and then completely dismantle the PC and place all the parts in the new top cover. It might also be difficult to find the actual part.

On page 54 of the service manual, you can see the part number for the part you need.

L63577-061 for the ash silver Italian layout

Can not find the part for purchase online (HP part store, ebay...)

Might be easier to find the American layout L63577-001

As it says on page 54 of service manual

"The top cover with keyboard remains after removing all other spare parts from the computer"

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06510442.pdf

so you would need to completely dismantle the PC.

Now sometimes third parties sell keyboards without the top cover (frame), so not an official product.

It is difficult to remove the keyboard from the top cover as it is usually held in place by plastic "rivets". However it is possible.

Example

Hope it helps,

David

It is possible but for this, you have to remove your old keyboard and install a new one with good backlit support. It is a technical task. If you want to do it easier then you can simply use glowing keyboard skins/films and cut individual characters.
