Salve vorrei sapere se qualcuno può aiutarmi per la sostituzione di una CPU i3-370M con una CPU i7-640M su notebook HP630 Chipset HM55.
Ho aggiornato la BIOS, acquistato la CPU i7-640M l'ho installata ma il computer non si avvia .....come reinstallo il vecchio processore i3-370M il computer funziona nuovamente.
Devo effettuare qualche settaggio che non conosco? O devo pènsare che la CPU i7-640M sia guasta? Se qualcuno potesse aiutarmi. Grazie

I don't think that there is anything wrong with the i7 processor you tried to install.
Theoretically, it should have worked if your notebook's BIOS has the microcode for that processor.

According to page 4 of the quickspecs, the best Intel 1st generation core processor that HP offered was the i3-380M.
I googled 'upgrading processor for HP 630,' and could not find any relevant information regarding upgrading the models with the Intel 1st generation core processors.
Maybe you should set your sights lower and try an i5-580M.

If that doesn't work either, then I would not continue trying to upgrade the processor, because going from an i3-370M to an i3-380M would hardly be worth the trouble.

Grazie Paul, ho puntato sull'I7-640M perché in rete ho letto diversi commenti di persone che con la stessa macchina sono riusciti ad installare quel processore ed ad averne anche un miglioramento riguardo il surriscaldamento.

If you know that this can be done, then the processor must be defective, since you have the latest BIOS update installed as well.
As, I wrote earlier...in theory the i7-640M should have worked.
