Hello! Running Windows 11 on the HP 860 G9 without issues. Decided to try Ubuntu 24 on it, installed on erased disk so I don’t run it alongside with windows (I want the space in Ubuntu for development).
When I plugin the charger now the led blinks white 8-9 times (8 full and the 9th kind of half-blink) and then no shine. No charging received. In Ubuntu looking at the power state it’s battery only, charger not recognized.
Since the same charger worked 30 minutes prior to installation I’m confident this is not the issue but rather something with Ubuntu. I did not yet try to install windows 11 again to see how it behaves.
Before I do that, does anyone else have any experience with my issue?
Cheers!

From your description, something else happened that affected the BIOS firmware.
The BIOS and BMS (battery management system) chip control charging and power at the firmware level, not the operating system.
There could be a problem with the power adapter of a failed component on the laptop's system board.
I suggest installing Windows 11 and updating the BIOS afterward if an update is shown to be available.
Run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI utility system and power test, after you have installed Windows 11.
You can also run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI utility from a stand alone flash drive.
See the information at the web page link below.

You can run Ubuntu on a USB Type-C flash drive plugged into your USB Type-C port on the left hand side of the laptop.
The flash drives are now available in extreme versions , Class 10 at least, that will give you reasonable latency while running Ubuntu OS.
