Can i install a ssd in my laptop? the model is HP pavillion Al 143tx. 
in the picture, i can see a cutout for ssd but there is no slot inserted.

Only the notebooks that came with a M.2 SATA SSD from the factory have the M.2 slot.

 

NVMe SSD's are not supported in the model series.

 

In order to install a M.2 SATA SSD, you would have to find and buy the parts needed to add the M.2 SSD hardware that are listed in chapter 3 of the service manual.

Solid-state hard drive cable (includes double-sided adhesive)  856202-001

Solid-state hard drive connector board (not illustrated)              856210-001

 

What you can do is to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD.

 

It will be easier, cheaper and will provide exactly the same performance as a M.2 SATA SSD.
