Hi Everyone,
Last week i had the idea to upgrade my laptop because it's running a bit slow. I went searching for Solid State Drives and i found an Samsung Evo 960 500gb M2 SSD. I opened up my laptop and installed the M2 SSD. But the SSD did not slide in like it should, instead i really had to push it. I did not damage anything though, i am always careful with things like this. After the installation i had put my laptop back together and tried to start up. Nothing happened but the power button flashed for one time. I removed the M2 SSD and everything works fine! Then i started looking if my laptop supports this new series of M2 SSD and i found out that it only supports memory up to 250Gb M2 SSD.
However, i do not know if i order the same type samsung M2 SSD but then 250GB it will work. The manual gives me article numbers of M2 SSD's with other pins then the new Samsung M2 SSD's. Will this M2 SSD work?
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
I would like to try to help you with the M2 SSD upgrade. First the size is not so important, you can also insert a 500GB M2 SSD. However I believe the SSD you have chosen is not going to work as the Samsung 960 evo and pro are PCIe NVMe SSDs and your system supports M2 Sata SSDs.
You need an SSD such as the Samsung 850 evo M2 SSD or any other M2 Sata SSD.
When you insert the SSD you need to insert at an angle and then press it down and put in screw. Maybe that is why you are having difficulty with insertion.
Take a look at this HP video for replacing drive (choose solid state drive in the list on the left)

Hi.
Welcome to forum Merijn99 .
Dual Storage configurations (models with i7 processors and 4 GB discrete graphics memory only)
1TB (5400) 9.5mm + 256GB M.2 SATA SSD (TLC)
SSD conƭigurations (TLC) (models with i7 processors and 4 GB discrete graphics memory only)
256 GB.
If it is a M.2 SATA SSD (TLC) of 256 gb maximum, you should not see any problem.

Thanks for your reply! The thing is, i am a bit concerned about the M2 slot. Usually it should slide in without to much pushing, but this one needs to be pushed in hard. The M2 SSD in the manual has different pins then the new one here, but it fits. I will try tomorrow to install the new one, and i will let you know if it works. Thanks a lot!

Iomare, thanks for the reply. I have tried the NVMe SSD a couple of days ago and it dit not work like you said (I installed the NVMe before i saw your comment). The 850 series as you recommended does work perfectly. Thanks for your advice!
