I have a new battery for my ENVY 17ae1 laptop. I cannot figure out how to get the bottom off to remove the old battery. I have removed 4 small screws but that didn't do it. What more must be done to open the case?

Below is the link to the service manual:
Chapter 5, pages 26 & 27 has the procedure to remove the base enclosure.
There are a few screws hidden underneath the one rubber foot strip and you have to remove the DVD drive if you have not done so already.

Paul, Thanks so much for your reply and service manual link. I suspected there were more screws below the rubber pads. Unfortunately, at the moment my machine will not download the manual claiming it's "unsafe." That's my next problem to solve.

You're very welcome.
I have zipped up and attached the service manual below.
Since zip files are normally safe and there's only a pdf file inside, hopefully you will be able to download and unzip the manual.
