HP15 AC042TU
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have HP15 AC042TU laptop and I am facing issues with my integrated webcam. It is not working. I checked under Device Manager -> Imaging Device , it shows there HP Truevision HD. I tried to uninstall and reinstall.

I tested it with Skype and other online web cam test websites. But webcam shows nothing, only black screen.

Please help me to resolve the issue.

Thanks,

Atul Yadav

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

Hi @The_Fossette ,

Thanks for replying. I would like to answer your questions. Please find below my answers -

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?

Ans: Actually it is an intermittent issue. Webcam sometimes works and sometimes not. For skype it always shows black screen. Even in skype device shows that HP True Vision HD.

I also tested the webcam through https://webcamtests.com/Sometimes web cam test is successful and sometimes shows the error like -

Then suddenly for any random attempt it works.

  • Are you getting any error when you launch the camera app?

Ans: In the testing with https://webcamtests.com/ . Following error comes -

1. Cannot detect any active stream of media content.

2. Requested device couldn't find.

3. Apparently, your webcam is being used or blocked by another application. To start your webcam, you must temporarily close that application. (I make sure that skype or any other application is not running.)

  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?

No. As I remember I didn't make any changes so far.

  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

Ans: I tried to uninstall and reinstall nintegrated camera from device manager. and restart the machine.

Also I observed one thing when I try to turn on the camera, the led light turn on for 1 second then got turned off.

Please help me to resolve the issue.

Thanks,

Atul Yadav
