HP Laptop 15-fd0083wm

This system started crashing 42 times a day after a Microsoft update on 7-25-2025.

The computer was brought to me on 8-12-2025 to diagnose. Blue screen momentarily showed "driver verifier DMA violation"

Tried to run diagnostics on it to no avail. Tried system recovery, system reset, safe mode, etc.....could never get anything to work to recover system. Ended up doing a clean install of Windows 11, updated to 24H2. Crashes are now gone, but I have an item in Device Manager (show hidden devices) that has no driver and have unable to locate a driver for it. It is a serial port device, called "Integrated Sensor Hub". ID is "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_54FC&SUBSYS_8B36103C". I have searched the Intel website, the Intel driver scanner and  the HP driver scanner website. Very little info out there for this "54FC" device. Intel has information describing it's function, but never lists a driver.

You can get the driver you need for that ID from the Microsoft Update Catalog website.

1st file on the page.

Microsoft Update Catalog

You can do the process to extract the drivers from the cabinet file and manually install the driver, or I have done the work for you, zipped the driver up and attached it below.

Download and unzip the attached file to its folder.

Do not do anything with the files in the folder.

Go to the device manager.

Click on the PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_54FC device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that you unzipped.

Make sure that the 'Include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

Here is a partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file that shows driver support for the hardware ID you posted:

[Intel.NTamd64.10.0...17763]

%ISH_DeviceDesc%=ISH_DDI, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7A78 ; RPL-HX/S

So, am I beating this horse to death......over-worrying about this.

System is running just fine now.  I have run numerous Microsoft updates trying to replicate the previous crashes.

So far, all is OK.

Thanks for the rapid response and suggestions.

Well, I went against my better judgement and tried 2 different third-party driver programs. I never like to use these, but was at a crossroads. I used the Iobit.com "Drive Booster Free" and then the DriverIdentifier.com. service. Failed to reboot after running the first one to check my problem device. Ran the second program, selected one of the I/O drivers, rebooted and now I have a clean Device Manager, even showing "Hidden Devices".I used RevoUninstaller to remove all traces of these programs after I was done. Still don't understand why HP and even Intel do not offer this particular driver for this component.
