Hi, my system was updating Windows 10 to the latest version, but I had the error regarding "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" stating I had to update the driver. I went to the Intel website but I found different packages and I don't know what to do. I thought the better solution was to update using the HP support assistant, but it didn't solve it. Then I searched the HP website with no result. So, I am writing here hoping someone will help me.
I feel ashamed and embarassed to write this messages as I have a computer science degree, but I don't want to make something stupid just to prove I am good.
Thanks a lot to whom will help me and please forgive my faulty English.
Giovanni

Hi, Giovanni:
This is the latest one for the chipset your PC has...
You would want the 1st file on the left side of the page.

Thank you Paul for your quick answer. I downloaded and installed the version you told me but, when I try to update windows, I have the same error:
"Intel Rapid Storage Technology (Intel RST): The inbox storage driver iastora.sys doesn’t work on these systems and causes stability problems on Windows. Check with your software/driver provider for an updated version that runs on this version of Windows."
Then there is written to update to a version 15.xx.xxblahblah and my version is 17.blahblah so it should work.
Is it possible that the chipset installed or anything else in my PC has any problem with this windows update?
In the end, what can I do to update my PC?

You're very welcome.
I need a little more info.
Is your notebook's drive controller set to AHCI or RAID?
If you don't know, there is an easy way to check.
Go to the device manager, if there is an IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers device manager category, click to expand that, and you should see an Intel model so and so AHCI controller.
If you don't see that, scroll down the page, and you should see a Storage Controllers device manager category.
Click to expand that, and you should see an Intel model so and so SATA RAID controller listed there.
Your operating system is probably in Italian so the device categories may be arranged differently than in English.
Another thing you can do is to uninstall the Intel Rapid Storage software and driver in the Windows control panel>programs section, restart the PC and see if you can then update to the new version of W10.
That way Windows will just use its own generic storage controller driver.

Thanks again,
So, my notebook's drive controller is set to AHCI, as I can understad by what I see in the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers section:
Intel(R) 100 Series/C230 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller
I wait for your new answer before uninstalling the Intel Rapid Storage software and driver, or should I do it anyway?

You're very welcome.
OK, good.
Try this first...uninstall the Intel RST software in the Windows control panel>Programs, and restart the PC.
Then try to update Windows.
If it fails, uninstall the Intel(R) 100 Series/C230 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller in the device manager and check the uninstall driver box.
Then restart the PC.
Windows should reinstall it as a standard AHCI controller.
Then see if you can update to the new W10.

Well, I uninstalled the Intel RST software and tried to update, but I had the same error.
Then I tried to uninstall the Intel(R) 100 Series/C230 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller but, in the device manager, it was disappeared and I found a "controller AHCI SATA standard" in the "IDE/ATA ATAPI Controller" section. I uninstalled it anyway (I couldn't check the "uninstall driver" checkbox because it never appeared in the uninstall box), rebooted the system but I got the same error when trying to update Windows.
So, what can I try next?

That is where I wanted you to end up with...the AHCI SATA standard controller" in the "IDE/ATA ATAPI Controllers section, and then try to update to v1903 that way.
Then there is no RST driver version Windows checks for.
If you tried that, and it didn't work, unfortunately I don't have any other ideas for you to try.
Now many, many people are posting the same problem on this forum, and no answers yet.
I have done a general internet search of the issue...the problem is well mentioned but I have not found any answers that are guaranteed to work as of yet.

I did the same search with the same results.
It's crazy that my windows version will be unsupported in a couple of months, but I can't update to the new one 🙄
Thanks a lot Paul for your help. If you'll ever find a solution, please let me know. I will do the same if i'll find it.
Have a good week
Giovanni
