Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Via the HP Support Assistant, it comes up with the Intel WLAN Driver for Microsoft Windows 10 update to be installed.

Every time I've attempted to install the package (SoftPaq Number:  sp96200   Version:  21.10.0.5   Size:  211.43MB) the package has failed with no indicator as to why.

Not sure or what I can or should do to move forward.

The update is raised for a reason, so not inclined to let it go.

Would anyone have seen similar issue and be in a position to provide any recommendations or remediation steps to resolve.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers, Cameron

Hi:

I had the same thing happen when I updated the driver from the Intel website.  It indicated the installation failed but the driver did in fact install.

When I reran the driver update utility afterward, it did not report the need for an updated driver.

So, if the HP Intel wifi driver is in fact NOT installing, then use the one directly from Intel.

Also note that while the driver file may be 21.10.0.5 in your example, depending on the model wifi adapter your PC has, an older version may be installed.   You can look at the release notes on the webpage as to what model wifi adapters get what driver version.

Version: 21.40.2 (Latest)   Date: 10/8/2019

Hi Paul,

Many thanks for the lead there - worked out a treat.

I'm now not running Ver.21.40.2 as I have the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 kit; however has upgraded me to Ver.20.70.12.5 - in-line with the documentation. 😊

Couldn't be more happier - again thanks for the lead.   👍

HP Support Assistant still pitching the old update notice unfortunately.

You're very welcome, Cameron.

I'm surprised the HPSA is still wanting you to update the driver.

I don't know exactly how to have that utility ignore it.  Maybe there is a way.

I thought there was a trash can icon you can click on to get rid of the update.

Cheers,  Paul

Hi Paul,

Correct regarding trash can - that's exactly what I ended up doing with the update.

Again, thanks for the assistance.

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

I did the same. Put the update in the trash can (after successfully updating the WLAN driver via your instructions with the driver from the Intel site!).
